In the near future, it has become possible to measure human mental states and personalities in numerical values. This measurement is referred to as a "Psycho-Pass". One of the most important factors in this measurement is a factor called the "Crime Coefficient". This factor indicates how much of a tendency and inclination an individual has to commit crimes and offenses, and the government uses this factor to judge criminals. Those with a high "Crime Coefficient" are potential threats to society and must be eliminated, even if they have not committed a crime. However, in this world, like in all stories about building an ideal society, not everything goes smoothly. Crimes, offenses, and criminals who are never caught by the government still exist and threaten the security and tranquility of society. The Public Safety Bureau's Criminal Investigation Department is composed of multiple investigative units that are responsible for maintaining security, fighting various crimes, and solving criminal cases. Each of these investigative units is actually a small team consisting of "Enforcers" and "Inspectors". "Enforcers" are those who carry out the tough and heavy work. They pursue and apprehend criminals. Most skilled "Enforcers" are individuals who, according to the measurements, had a high "Crime Coefficient" and were supposed to be eliminated from society, but were offered the opportunity to serve as "Enforcers" in exchange for their freedom. Their deep understanding of crime and offense makes them the best choice for "Enforcers".
